Winter on the Trails

It's that time of year to start thinking about winter conditions on the Sheehan Park mountain bike trails.

Signs were posted at the trails overnight with guidelines on when to switch to fatter tires on our mountain bike and when to switch from hiking to snowshoeing. Please keep this in mind as the weather changes over the next couple of days. And remember not to ride, or hike, on the trails when they are wet and muddy as this can damage the terrain.

Key notes:

  • Once it snows, only use tires wider than 3.7"
  • Keep tire pressure below 8psi
  • Stop riding on the trails if you are leaving ruts in the snow deeper than 1"
  • If your feet are leaving indents in the snow, also known as post-holes, put on your snowshoes.

And remember to have fun.
