We (Sun Prairie Moves) support all modes of transportation and recognize that sharing sidewalks between pedestrians, bicycles, strollers, wheel chairs, skateboards and others can be challenging. What we do not support is restricting one mode without providing safe alternatives.

This decision sets a terrible precedent. The concern brought forward could apply anywhere in the city.

If the city council decides to restrict bicycles on sidewalks, you need to provide an alternative. We are requesting that you remove all parking from the affected street and add protected bike lanes to provide a safe alternative for those who need to ride their bicycles.

We have the YMCA on one side and Creekside Elementary on the other side of that general area. Where should kids ride their bicycles when they live in that neighborhood?

Another aspect that might be lost, is the fact that this is could have been avoided, if developers would construct multi-user paths in high density neighborhoods. There needs to be an improved network of paths that connect and provide safe transportation options for all users.
