Call to Action - Do you want more bike lanes?

On April 9th 2024, the Public Works committee of the city of Sun Prairie will be making a decision on adding bike lanes to two upcoming street projects. Please submit a public comment in support of agenda item 6.A. for more bike lanes in Sun Prairie!

We understand some residents are concerned about losing parking with the addition of on-street bike lanes. However, consider this: protected bike lanes make cycling safer and more appealing for everyone, young and old. This can lead to fewer cars on the road, reducing congestion and actually making it easier to find parking when you need it. Plus, with one side for parking, there will still be plenty of options, and the freed-up space can be used for wider sidewalks, benches, or even greenery, making our streets more vibrant and livable for everyone.

Imagine your kids confidently riding their bikes to school or the park! Dedicated bike lanes separate cyclists from car traffic, creating a safe space for young riders and families to enjoy cycling together. This reduces the worry of sharing the road and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle for our youth. By removing some car parking, we prioritize the safety of our most vulnerable road users, making our streets a place where families can feel comfortable exploring on two wheels.
